On March 7 and 8, 2018, EducationPlus in conjunction with Ready by 21 will host the AlignSTL Conference at UMSL. St. Louis Center for Family Development CEO Nancy Spargo will co-present alongside Sanaria Sulaiman, Director of Project LAUNCH, about early childhood screenings for social emotional development. Spargo is the Chair of the Health and Mental Health Committee and a member of the Screening Committee of Project LAUNCH.
The AlignSTL Conference is intended to bring service agencies and education professionals together to explore how to better serve the children of the region. The idea sprung from the recognition that often we need to be more efficient and effective in the delivery of services to create a stronger support network for our area’s children.
As a part of this unique collaboration, Spargo and Sulaiman will provide experiential knowledge and insight into their successful community partnerships. They will present their 50-minute session at least twice throughout the conference. Spargo and Sulaiman’s presentation will include the following:
- Review of regional data and statistics
- Share the story of their exemplary program/partnerships
- Identify any resources or partners that proved helpful in their journey
- Detail the progress, outcomes and/or impact of their program/partnership
- Provide ideas about how participants may join or replicate their program
There will also be several sessions from other community organizations and schools that have created successful partnerships to further support the growth of our youth. All of these initiatives are ones that can be easily joined or replicated.
After the breakout session conclude, we’ll be ready to work! Attendees are encouraged to collaborate with others both within their field of work and those outside of their typical sphere of influence to design new solutions to key issues. Ultimately, you’ll leave with a plan of action and new connections to help grow a network of solution-finders in our region committed to improving the overall health and readiness of our children.
