Foundational Skills in Motivational Interviewing
The Foundational Skills in MI training offers participants the opportunity to understand how to use MI skills in their professional lives. The goal is for you to leave the training with a solid foundational understanding and application of MI in your setting.
The focus of this training is for the participant to start thinking more about how they are interacting with the people with whom they work: to start looking critically at what approach to behavior change the participant takes, the style of communication used, and how the participant builds a motivational framework. Through this process, participants begin to understand how an MI framework fits with the participants individual framework related to behavioral change. At the end of the training, participants will be able to understand how MI as an approach to behavior change, philosophy of motivation and ambivalence, and strategies may be helpful in practice.
If you work in a healthcare setting, as a nurse, physician, case manager, counselor or mental health professional, or any other role that involves helping people change, this training is for you!
