Mental Health Professional
Kathy Emmert is a mental health professional in the community based crisis stabilization program at STLCFD. She graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis with a Master of Arts in Counseling. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for nearly 7 years. Ms. Emmert has an undergraduate degree in Vocal Music Education from Oregon State University. Ms. Emmert provides in-home crisis stabilization services to children, adolescents, and families at STLCFD. The goal of the program is to teach individuals and families the skills that prevent out of home placement and stabilize families. Ms. Emmert uses a variety of modes of therapy and treatment, which include individual and family therapy, skill development and parent education. In addition, Ms. Emmert places a high priority on collaborating with other community providers, making referrals and advocating for additional needs and resources. Ms. Emmert has experience in working with individuals who struggle with chronic mental illness as well as children and families who are looking for ways to improve communication and relationship skills. She has received training in DBT and trauma and looks forward to increasing her knowledge in these therapeutic interventions.
